Ferdinand "Bongbong" Romualdez Marcos Jr is a Filipino politician who recently served as a senator in Parliament 16. He is the second and only son of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos and former First Lady Imelda Romualdez-Marcos. In 1980, 23-year-old Bongbong Marcos became deputy governor of Ilocos Norte, operating under the administration of the incumbent Kilusang Bagong Lipunan party of his father. He then became governor of Ilocos Norte in 1983, holding that post until his family exile in Hawaii in February 1986. Following the death of his father Ferdinand Marcos in 1989, President Corazon Aquino eventually commissioned the remaining members of the Marcos family, including Bongbong, to return to the Philippines. Finally, Bongbong ran for the election and was elected governor of Ilocos Norte again in 1998. He was then elected Representative of the Second District of Ilocos Norte from 1992 to 1995, and again from 2007 to 2010 .
